Wiring issue with heat pump

Mykol
Community Member

I have a seven wire system my 1st stage and second work fine but my cooling will not. The unit seems to be blowing the cold air up and out of the condenser. I have a picture of my old thermostat wiring but can't upload it. I called an AC company and they referred me back to the forum. @CoolingWizard

There is a black wire behind the white wire in the same slot

@Mykol

Give this wiring a try

Red - R to Rc (jumper to RC not needed)

Yellow - Y to Y1

Blue - C to C

Orange - O/B to OB

Green - G to G

White AUX/E to W2 ( set as Aux heat)

You shouldn't need the black wire. You can check where it is connected by looking at the control PCB terminal Block in the furnace/air handler.

Thank you I will give that a try and I appreciate your help.

@Mykol , you definitely have a Heat Pump with auxiliary heat.  A heat pump runs the compressor (Y1) for either heating or cooling.  The OB wire is what energizes the heat pump reversing valve that changes the flow of refrigerant to change modes from heat to cool or vice versa.
Do me a favor and get me the model number of the outdoor unit so I can verify its capabilities.
