Wiring not compatibility

jgnordby

We recently moved to a new home (new to us anyway). The home already has an older Google thermostat that my wife wants me to replace with a new Nest Thermostat (Not the Learning Nest, just the plain Nest). When I follow all the prompts it tells me that my system is not compatible with Nest. That is all it says! Nothing about why or what I can do. It exits setup and goes to a home screen.

I am hoping you can help me out.  The problem is with the wires.  I have the following wires (as connected to the old thermostat)  W2, C Rh, Y1, Y2, G, OB.

Any Ideas??

Thank you in advance for your time

Hi there,

Thanks for posting here in the community! I'll be more than glad to answer your question about thermostat compatibility. As per the wiring you have, I can see that you have 2 stages of heating and cooling. That wiring configuration is not compatible with the Nest Thermostat 2020, but it could be compatible with the Nest Learning Thermostat.

  1. To assist you better, could you please provide me with pictures of the current wiring?

I'll be looking for your reply,

Best regards,

Derick.

Hey there!

Thank you for your reply. Based on the Google Nest thermostat compatibility checker, the thermostat compatible with your system is the Nest Learning thermostat. You can use the link above to confirm the compatibility.

Please don’t hesitate to contact us back if you have any other questions.
