You guys suck for disabling 2nd Gen thermostats remote access

For the life of me.. Can you at least open source the code so we can run our own nest server.  I am so upset with Google for this move. I invested big time with NEST and this is the payback.  There was no fine print that said "service expires in 10 years".

I purchased these thermostats for exactly the reason of remote control.  I have a fire alarm system all Nest which now also has had smoke alarms going orange stating they are disconnected from the remote connection.  I have a cameras which are connected to the same next system.  Are these all arbitrarily getting sunset because some **bleep**ing Google manager wants to make more money.

Talk about Make Me Hate Google and never buy any hardware from you again.  Honestly, I AM LIVID about this decision.

I have the same problem, I purchased a nest thermostat not only for the home control but also for the app control. We travel quite a bit and it has been really convenient when we get off the plane we can adjust the thermostat to be comfortable when we arrive home. This is no longer an option due to Google’s wisdom to stop the app support. Now every 1st or 2nd generation owner has to purchase a new nest. That decision in its self is bad enough. My problem only starts there, I noticed that the app was offline and was trying to remedy it. I tried several times to reset the app, offload and then to no avail I removed the app and reinstalled it. I quickly discovered that since Google stopped support I could not get the Nest thermostat to load on the app. I did not realize that since Google stopped support it would not let you reload it on the app. I then called the support line 4 times and chat line 2 times. They are not willing to send me a credit for a discount of a new Nest. That is bad enough but you have no recourse to try to talk to anyone on my situation. Google Nest is forcing me to buy a new thermostat on my own. How many of millions of users are in the same situation. Unless I can get this resolved I am seriously thinking of changing to another brand. Shame on you Google.

I think a class action law suit is required and more people need to speak up.  This is a total FU to those of us who invested in this technology and spent several thousand getting nest protect, nest thermostats, nest cameras.  Its a total BS move.  I think it is wrong for a company the with the money of Google to do this to its users.  I use many other Google products and I certainly won't be looking for any other Google devices in the near future if this is a pattern.  Gosh, Microsoft software still works for me from 1990.   There is no valid reason to do this or AT LEAST give us another option, but buying a whole new range of devices is not acceptable.

I just learned of this forced obsolescence when i tried to access my Nest remotely. I agree with the previous posts. This corporate greed negates the reason for owning Nest in the first place. And I used to think Google buying them was a good thing. Boy, what a maroon.
