cannot connect app to Thermostat E

I have tried numerous times to connect the Nest app to my Nest Thermostat E. I've read the post re. an entry key but it is not possible to obtain one of these as the thermostat doesnt give me this choice. Oddly it says: Nest App Connected? I press the ring & it says: this thermostat is connected to an account.  To top it all off the thermostat wont turn the heating on ? The thermostat is connected to the heat link & Eco is set to 9.5 degrees minimum. Please can someone help???
