i removed old thermostat from wall and found   G W R C Y1 Y2 wires i combined the two wires Y1 and Y2 and made a jumper to go into the y1 socket i need to know if this is going to have any negative effects on the unit im conserned it put a wire in the wrong spot  so  R goes to R  G goes to G   C goes to C  W goes to W and my Y1  and Y2  jumper into the Y1 slot in the plate

Not a problem. It is the same. You don't have to add a jumper on nest. It does that on its own.

their is a 6th spot to put a wire labled OB* would that be where i would land the y2 wire?

again G to G, C to C, R to R, W to W, Y1 to Y, Y2 to OB*

would this be the proper route to take the wiring or do you recommnend keeping the jumper i have made for Y1 and Y2 Combine to go into Y slot

Hi there @zzziou301,

Thanks for reaching out to the community. I'm happy to help troubleshoot your concerns. Help's here:

To better understand the situation, I'd also like to ask a question:

  • What kind of Nest thermostat do you have?
  • Do you mind sharing a picture of your wiring thermostat?

In the meantime:

Keep me posted.

Best regards,

Melany
