ignoring a schedule (intentionally)

I have a Nest Learning Thermostat, and when I go away on vacation, I switch from heat mode to heat/cool mode. On that thermostat, the schedule is tied to the mode. So this allows me to turn the thermostat way down when away and the schedule is ignored.

I can't see a way to do this with my new Nest Thermostat (non-learning version). It seems the schedule is an overall schedule and not associated with the individual mode anymore. Is this true? Is there any way to easily just set and forget when I go away like I do with other one?

Hi billshander,

Thanks for reaching out. I'm sorry for the delay and for the trouble this has caused you. Checking your thermostat Energy History will let you know what your thermostat is doing previously. Also, share with us your thermostats power readouts.

Check out this guide:

  1. Go to your thermostat Quick View menu.
  2. Go to Settings.
  3. Look for Technical Info.
  4. Select Power.

Best,

Jenelyn

I think you might be answering someone else's question? I just want to find out how to have a schedule that only works in Heat mode and is ignored when in Heat/Cool mode, so it works like the Nest Learning Thermostat. Is this possible? Or if there is some other quick and easy way to have a temperature that will stay in place while away while traveling, but then I can quickly revert back to my schedule when I return without having to manually change the schedule every time I go away.
