I know this question has been posted many times but my situation appears slightly different. I moved into a house with an existing next thermostat. The previous owner thinks he deleted his account from Nest. My thermostat is locked and when I so much as touch the ring or face of the device, it asks for a pin number which I do not have. I go to my Next app and it wants me to start a new location and add devices. I am not able to add the thermostat because it is stuck on asking me for my pin. i cannot reach the setting link on the device and the online app does not seem to have a place to unlock anything because there are no devices showing. Can someone please help?
