nest sensor not recognized by thermostat

Followed all the directions: scanned QR code on sensore; phone bluetooth is on; sensor and phone are within inched of thermostat, but still shows sensor offline

1. Restart the thermostat. Go to settings > reset > restart.
2. Remove the sensor battery for at least 30 seconds, then reinsert it.
3. Ensure you are using the correct email account on your Google Home app or Nest app.
