nest thermostat ambient temp does not display

My Nest thermostat has stopped displaying the ambient temperature. It only shows the temperature the thermostat is set to. Both used to display. Now I can only see the ambient temperature when I raise or lower the set temperature. As soon as the house reaches that temp the ambient temperature no longer shows up on the display. What is causing this and how do I fix it? (Please note I am talking about the actual thermostat not the app)

Thank you for the reply, but that does not help. That same information is in the instruction manual. Ambient temperature is not one of the options for Farsight display. I solved the issue on my own. It turns out there is nothing wrong with the thermostat. The user manual is somewhat misleading in that it is written to indicate that the ambient temperature and the temperature that the thermostat is set to are both shown on the display all the time. It seems that the ambient temperature is actually only shown on the display when it is different from the temperature the thermostat is set to. It would be helpful if that information was also included in the user manual.

Hi rsibielski,

I'm sorry for the trouble this may have caused you — let's see what's going on.

If you have a Nest Learning Thermostat and Nest Thermostat E, you can enable Farsight in the Display menu. Farsight can display information on your thermostat screen when it notices you enter a room. Here's your guide on how to change the settings.

Let me know if that helps.

Thanks,

Mark
