nest thermostat

My 4 year old nest thermostat died because the battery went dead.  Replacing the battery was not practical.  I installed a new unit, It worked fine for 3 - 4 weeks, but now it wont maintain a charge.  I can charge it using the USB charger, but it won't maintain the charge when I attach it again. Loses wifi connection after a couple of hours du to low voltage.  Is this a defective unit or has something happened with my HVAC system?

Hi sycohen,

Thank you for reaching out and we're sorry to hear about what happened.

It looks like your Google Nest thermostat is not getting enough power from the HVAC unit to keep the internal battery charged. This usually happens if you don't have a common (C) wire connected to the thermostat.

Could you share a photo of your current wiring configuration? We'd like to further check what's going on.

I hope to hear from you soon.

Best regards,

Ryan
