You won't need to remove the thermostat from the wall.
Do you know which model tstat you have?

Hello everyone,

Thanks for reaching out to the Google Nest Community. I'd be happy to take a look at this for you.

I appreciate your help here, @RKeen.

@jerrydagna, I understand your situation, as it might be difficult for you. By any chance, do you have someone who can help you reconnect your Nest Thermostat in the app? If so, could you please share these steps that they can try?

For the Nest Learning Thermostat or the Nest Thermostat E:

  1. On the actual thermostat, go to Settings > Nest app > QR code or Entry Key.
    1. This will help you re-add it to the app.
  2. Open the Nest app and select "Add product".
  3. Continue the setup steps until it reaches the last option.
  4. If the above setting didn't work, go to Settings > Reset > Account Connection > Reset.
  5. Go back to the Network settings and reconnect to the Wi-Fi network.
  6. Once reconnected, go back to step 1.

For the Nest Thermostat 2020 model:

  1. Go to the thermostat's Account settings.
    1. Check to see if it's already disconnected from an account.
  2. If so, proceed with the Factory Reset on its settings.
  3. Open the Google Home app and add the device.
  4. Scan the QR code located on the back of the thermostat display.

Keep me posted if you need more help.

Best,
Mark
