Hello jdogarizona,

Thank you for reaching out, and we're sorry to hear about the issues you're experiencing with your current Nest Learning Thermostat. We appreciate your loyalty to the Nest product line, and we're here to assist you with the replacement process.

To ensure a smooth transition, here are the steps you can take to remove and replace your existing thermostat. Installing your Nest Thermostat article will be your guide:

  1. Before you start, make sure to turn off the power to your HVAC system at the circuit breaker to ensure your safety during the replacement process.
  2. Gently remove the cover of your existing thermostat to access the wiring.
  3. Take a clear picture of the wiring and labels for reference during the installation of the new thermostat.
  4. Carefully disconnect the wires from the terminals on your existing thermostat.
  5. Follow the installation instructions provided with your new Nest Learning Thermostat.
  6. Connect the wires to the corresponding terminals on the new thermostat, referencing the picture you took earlier.
  7. Once the new thermostat is installed, turn the power back on at the circuit breaker.
  8. Follow the setup instructions on the Nest app to connect and configure your new thermostat.
  9. Replacing the thermostat shouldn't affect your Nest Protect settings.
  10. After installing the new thermostat, ensure your Nest Protect devices are still connected to your Nest account.

If you encounter any difficulties or have further questions during this process, feel free to reply.

Best regards,
Mark

Thank you Mark. Do I need to remove the old nest thermostat device from my Home Screen and then add new thermostat?

Hey there,

Good question. Yes, but it depends if you're no longer using the existing thermostat display. If you are no longer using it, unlink or remove the thermostat from the app and proceed by installing and adding your new Nest Learning Thermostat.

Let me know if you need more help.

Regards,
Mark
