just replaced my existing Nest thermostat generation 3 with a new one ( gen 3 ). got all the way through installation and setup until after I got to the screen to enter the serial number shown on the screen. The app is not showing how to enter the serial number. Very frustrating! Please advise asap, and thanks in advance!

Are you installing your Nest Learning Thermostat in the Google Nest app?

The Nest Learning Thermostat, 3rd Gen, can only be set up using the Nest app.
Once it is set up, you can control it using the Google Home app
