My thermostat was deleted by mistake. It is the regular one - not smart. Will my furnace still work? I am 1000 miles and won't be home for another month. - is there any way to reinstall it remotely? I obviously don't have access to any of its QR codes or other info. Oh, and it's going to get down to 9° tonight. YAY!
Thanks,
Cathy

Your thermostat will continue to operate manually. It will report an error of no Nest ID.

Thank you. Can you help me to get remote control back? My neighbor will stop by, but I have no idea what to tell her to do when she gets there.

I am curious how this happens because it does require A rather overt act in order to delete a thermostat on a Google Nest app or Google Home app.
In order to initially communicate with your smart device when you install a Google Nest thermostat, it uses low power Bluetooth to communicate with your smart phone. This will make it impossible for you to install 1000 miles away. The QR code simply gives the model number of the thermostat to the app. And the PIN is used to properly. Identify the thermostat that you’re hooking up to in case you’re in a location where there’s more than one new Google Nest being installed. The thermostat itself will continue to operate until you get home.

Nothing nefarious - My son-in-law with a sick newborn and moving from one house to another accidentally deleted it when trying to delete ours from his old house. He was a manager on the account.
So, if I made my neighbor, Patricia, a manager, would she be able to add it back to the account while in the house and on the same wifi?
