Can't sign in to Nest Thermostat App & no email to reset my pw despite @nest.com emails received

HurleyBob

Everything has been great with my Nest thermostat and app until suddenly last week I was signed out of the app.

I tried to login but none of the pw's I tried worked so I requested a pw reset email and never received an email.

My email receives @Nest.com emails (I just received my Oct. Nest Home Report) and there were no emails in my junk  folder.

I have removed the Nest app and reinstalled but that didn't help. Same problem- I can't login or get the pw reset email.

I really don't want to migrate my acct to Google so if anyone has a suggestion I'd certainly appreciate it. I have reviewed the thread with others that have experienced the same issue but didn't see anything that will help.

Thanks!

Hi @HurleyBob!

Thanks for posting in the community.
I’m sorry for the inconvenience that you are having when trying to log in using your Nest account. I understand that you were randomly logged out and cannot log in again or even change the password because you are not receiving the reset password emails. You have also checked that your email can receive emails from Nest. Let’s work together.

Here are a few steps for you to follow:

  1. Check if your account is not migrated yet by following the instructions in the next article: Change or reset your Nest account password.
  2. Checked if you have received any email from Nest that asks to confirm your account's deletion.
  3. I can see that you have already checked that you are able to receive emails from Nest; then contact your ISP or email provider for further information.

Tell me how it goes.

Regards,

Daniel.

When I go to sign in with my google account, there are way too many info sharing boxes checked for my comfort. Do i have to provide google with ALL my identify before using  the nest phone app now?

Hi there!

Thanks for your reply.

Before using the Sign in with Google option you will need to check if your account is already migrated.

  1. Check if your account is not migrated yet by following the instructions in the next article: Change or reset your Nest account password.

If it is not migrated yet you can continue using the Sing in with Nest option.

Regards,

Daniel

I have used my google account to sign in to the nest app. Once I’m signed in the app wants me to add a product (my already installed and working nest thermostat) but when I goto settings and nest app on the nest thermostat I can’t get an entry key to enter into my phone as the display on the thermostat says “this device already connected to an account.’”

i cannot explain the level of frustration this is causing. Everything had worked great for over the last couple of years and then suddenly out of the blue I’m disconnected from the thermostat, can’t sign in and now that I’m in I can’t get an entry key so that I can access my nest thermostat with my phone which is all that I want to do! Such a waste of time and effort!!!

Hi @HurleyBob!

Thanks for your reply and for sharing all that information with me. Let me help you with this.

If you have a Nest Learning Thermostat (3rd gen or earlier) or a Nest Thermostat E, follow the next steps:

  1. Press the thermostat ring to bring up the Quick View menu.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Turn the ring and select Reset.
  4. Select Account connection.
  5. Select Reset to confirm.

After performing these steps, you can try to set up your thermostat on your account again.

You can check the next article: Change Nest thermostat Wi-Fi network.

Regards,

Daniel.
