using a pin code is dumb

I've had my nest Thermostat since before google bought it out from under me and I'm sick and tired of the security features on the device.  I shouldn't need a pin just to set my thermostat to hold a temp.  Please advise - how i can permaneny remove this pin code feature (so i can quickly and easily set my thermostat to hold a temp)?

To unlock it:

  1. Open the Nest app.
  2. Tap your thermostat.
  3. Tap the settings cog > Unlock.

There is no temperature hold feature on the model of thermostat you have. See here for your options:
Learn about Eco Temperatures and how to change settings - Google Nest Help

If you want to disable Eco mode:

  1. Open the Nest app.
  2. Select your thermostat.
  3. Select the Mode option in the lower left and set the mode to Heat/Cool.
  4. Select the Eco option in the lower center and end Eco Temperatures on all thermostats.

If you also want to stop it adjusting based on home/away assist and the auto-schedule features, select the Gear icon in the upper right and turn off the Home/Away Assist and Auto-Schedule options.
