thermostat was set up on Nest, but forced to migrate to Google - reset the thermostat - now when i scan the QR code to add, it says i need to go to settings in Nest and remove the device first... unfortunately when i go to settings in Nest, the device is not listed so there is nothing to remove... bottom line, neither google home nor nest sees the thermostat, but it wont let me add it until i remove it... something that appears impossible

The Nest Learning Thermostat, 3rd Gen, can only be set up using the Nest app.
Have you tried resetting it to factory defaults?

Thanks for posting here in Community forum, and I’m sorry to hear about the situation. Let’s sort this out.
To reset your Nest Thermostat’s account connection, go to Settings, then look for Reset, and select Account Connection. This will remove it from being connected to your Nest account without removing all your personal settings. After that, you may proceed with adding your device back to the app.
