I had a nest thermostat professionally installed last April when I moved into my new home. It stopped working last week, I had an electrician come out to check the wiring, in the end it’s the thermostat that will not recharge. I purchased a new nest and installed it yesterday, it’s working fine. But I’m wondering if there’s any reimbursement or warranty since the old thermostat is literally just under the one year mark.

Take the thermostat back to the retailer or whoever you purchased from, and tell them to sort the thermostat out. Under 12 months old, the person you purchased the thermostat from is responsible for replace/repair.
