AP isolation trying to connect Chromecast to google nest wifi proifi

We have the 3 pack google nest wifi pro. It has worked like a treat. We also have an older chromecast (2nd or 3rd gen).

All was working well, casting from phones to telly etc, until today.

Chromecast could not be found when looking for casting options in various apps.

Nor could it be found in the Google home app.

I've tried my partner's phone, same result.

We have reset the Chromecast, and it was looking good until it said:

Your Chromecast was set up successfully but can't be found. Make sure that your mobile device and Chromecast are on the same Wi-Fi network.

If AP isolation is enabled on your Wi-Fi router, you will need to disable it.

Nothing's changed in our wifi settings.

I've read several posts and can confirm:

*Guest mode is off

*Upnp is on

*Wifi and internet connection are fine.

And advise to get our phone, Chromecast and nest wifi pro talking again would be appreciated.

Thanks

It sounds like you've already tried these steps but I'll include them here in full.

Before you do this, if possible, try turning off all but your primary Nest Wifi Pro and move your Chromecast to within range of that unit, to make the testing easier.

  1. Make sure your Chromecast is within 15 - 20 ft (4 - 6 m) of the Wi-Fi point if possible.
  2. Turn on Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on your phone or tablet, if not already turned on.
  3. Turn off mobile/cellular data.
  4. Reboot the Wifi point by unplugging the power source and then plug it back in to reboot.
  5. Reboot Chromecast by removing the power cable, then reconnect it.
  6. Reboot your phone or tablet.
  7. Make sure you're using the latest version of the apps you want to cast from, by checking your app store for any updates.
  8. Restart those apps.
    • Android: Swipe up from the bottom, hold, then let go. Swipe up on the app.
    • iPhone/iPad: Swipe up from the bottom, hold, then let go. Swipe up on the app. On older devices with a home button, double-click the Home button, then swipe up on the app.
  9. Turn Wi-Fi off and on again on your phone or tablet.
  10. Forget your Wi-Fi network in your phone's Wi-Fi settings and reconnect.
  11. Reopen the app(s) you want to cast from and retry.

Thanks David.

I had to wait for the kids to finish all their internet-business, but the good old power cycle of everything did the trick!

Thanks again
