Another Nest Wifi Slow Speed Post (AC2200)

I recently increased my speed with my ISP from 400mbps to 1Gig and did not see any incease in speed. I have had Spectrum to my home twice to check the speed from the street and both times they are receiving 1gb to their calibration equipment. This morning I called again, and we walked thorugh resetting the network, and tested the speed from the router direct to Spectrum and again they receive 1G speed. So upon plugging in only the router and no wifi points I used the Google Home app to check the speed at which time I did receive 700+ speeds, but as soon as I asked the wifi to go through a browser to my Macbook or Iphone the fastest I could get is 200mbps.

Long story long- After reviewing this forum it looks like everyone is in the same boat with Googles Nest WIFI.. Put simply- It doesn't work for a lot of people at 1GB speed. I haven't actually met or spoke to anyone who has achieved much more than 200gbps.

Hi LoPing,

Thanks for reaching out. I understand that you recently upgraded your internet service from 400 Mbps to 1 Gbps, but speed tests are showing lower speeds than expected. I'm happy to assist you in resolving this situation.

I have a few questions to help me understand the situation better:

  • How often does this low-speed issue occur? Is it continuous or intermittent?

  • What type of Ethernet cable are you using? CAT5e or CAT6 cables are recommended for 1 Gbps speeds. CAT5 cables are only capable of speeds up to 100 Mbps.

I look forward to your response.

Regards,

Manuel

I got rid of the Nest and got the TP Link AXE5400 with only 2 wifi points and the problem has been solved. I've never had such speed and my issues have been completely solved. As a matter of fact I had 5 points with the Nest pods to cover mm y entire home and even with 2 of the TP link my sign is stronger in the furthest stretch of signal with the TP than it ever was sitting directly in front of the the Nest router.  I'm happy the is solved... But now I have a pleathora of Google Home products to offload. Completely getting out of the ecosystem.
