Bandwidth Hogging - Nest WiFi Pro

Ever since I’ve had my 3 pack setup on my gigabit package, download has always shown around 400mbps on speed tests within the Google home app. I’m on a P2P full fibre dedicated connection with 900mbps down + 900mbps coming into the property. I have a static ip address also. Obviously the speeds I’m getting are great but where is the other 500mbps down being hogged, how do I find out and how do I fix? Yours, proper geek

Hi @JoshPorrit-,

Thanks for reaching out to the community. I’m truly sorry you’re experiencing slow internet with your Google router. I'm happy to help you troubleshoot your device.

To better assist you, I have some questions about your device:

  • How many devices have you connected to your network?
  • Are all your devices experiencing slow internet speeds?
  • Have you tried repositioning your Google WiFi points for better signal strength?

In the meantime, I recommend you follow the next troubleshooting step:

Also, you can find additional information in this article: Troubleshoot slow WiFi.

Keep me posted.

Best regards,

Ana.

Sorry, I didn’t get a notification of a comment.

currently 27 devices but let’s say it averages around 30.

i get 900mbps download and 900 mbps upload into my property but when I speed test the network on google home the download hovers around 400mbps so something must be bandwidth hogging download speed. I think this because let’s say everything reserves 5mbps at all times, that’s only 150mbps.

the positioning is definitely optimal and is irrelevant here anyway as I’m referring to the speed I get directly to the ‘router’ that’s Ethernet wired to my isp router that’s in bridge mode.

Hi,

I pay for 550mb Virgin cable service and Google Home (both for Google Wifi and Nest Wifi Pro) has always shown very close to that, regardless of what is happening on the internal network - it does an automatic speed test every other day.  Have you proven that you're actually getting the 900 speed?

Thanks for your response. I’ve connected directly to the ISP router/modem combo (it stays in bridge mode) and seen full speed. Also, ISP sees full speed on line tests.
