I physically can't reach my router and i need to link it to my google home app. Is there a work around to not have to scan the qr code or look at the code?

Hi noahgmalm,

Thanks for reaching out to our community.

I’m sorry to know that you physically can’t reach your router and need to link your Nest WiFi router to your Google Home app without scanning the QR code. I'm pleased to assist you in finding the answer.

At this moment, based on the features available for the Nest WiFi router, I found three options to link your Nest WiFi router to your Google Home app:

  1. The first option requires scanning the QR code as you mentioned before.
  2. You can enter the “setup key”.  You can find it printed on the bottom of your Nest WiFi router instead of scanning the QR code. Here you have the instructions:
    1. Open the Google Home app.
    2. Tap Devices, then tap “Add,” then select “Google Nest or partner device.”
    3. If prompted, choose a home.
    4. Select your Nest WiFi router, then tap “Next.”
    5. Tap “Continue without scanning,” then enter the “setup key.”
    6. Select a room for your router or create a new one.
    7. Give your WiFi network a name and a secure password.
    8. The router will now create your WiFi network. This may take a few minutes.
  3. With your Nest WiFi router:
    1. Using an Ethernet cable, connect a computer directly to the Nest WiFi router that's missing the QR code label.
    2. Open your computer’s web browser and go to http://192.168.84.1/api/v1/status
    3. Look for the “setup Network” section of the output.
    4. Find the “ssid” (this will be the name of the setup WiFi network) and the “psk” (this will be the password used to connect).
    5. Manually connect to the SSID and enter the PSK to connect to the Nest WiFi router and begin the setup process.

The three options require a physical approach to link your Nest WiFi router to the Google Home app.

Feel free to keep us posted if you have more questions.

Best regards,

Virna

I believe said that i cannot physically reach or look at some code on the router. It's installed way too far away for me to be able to see some code underneath. I wanna know if there is another way to configure it.
