Connecting Google Nest Router to my ISP's Router

JC066

Hi, We have a BT fibre modem and I've been advised that the Google Nest Wifi router won't work with a direct connection to this BT modem - I did try it but the Home app couldn't setup the Nest Wifi router. So, I've been advised to connect the Nest router to my existing ISP router (a Technicolor DWA0120), but the ISP router needs to be put into switch mode. Has anyone worked through this and does it work? Can you advise what I need to do? Thanks

Hi, JC066.

Thanks for reaching out and I'm sorry for the issues you've had getting things set up. I'm sure that's been frustrating to deal with. Let's look at the situation and get you sorted out here.

So the reason why you need to worry about a special setup is due to the double NAT situation running two routers can put you into. This article will explain what is going on and how to bypass it: https://bit.ly/3k7Hhmv

Go ahead and run through that article and follow the steps to set up your network with the two router setup while avoiding a double NAT. If you are still having issues form that point, let me know and we can continue to troubleshoot things.

Thanks.

Hi, everyone.
As we haven't had any activity here recently I'm going to go ahead and close the thread. If you have more to add, feel free to start a new discussion.
Thanks.
