Defective Google WiFi enclosure

I purchase the Google Wifi 3-Pack  on 12/30/2022 to replace my failed Netgear Nighthawk X10.  Upon opening the packaging all three of the units outer top case had partially separated from from its base.  There was no physical damage to the packaging however all three of the units had a damage outer case.  The hardware installed with no issues and has been functioning without any problems.

Hello @spd7953

I think I would return those to the point of purchase. I did escalate this as well in case there's a manufacturing issue that Google needs to investigate.

Thanks for pushing this up, @MichaelP.

Hey spd7953,

If you are able to, I would do as MichaelP suggested and return the units back to where you purchased them for a refund or replacement. While it's good they're working properly, that definitely indicates some rough handling before the sale, such as a drop. If you're comfortable keeping them, you're free to, but it might be worth looking into replacement to be sure. Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks,
Jeff

Hi Jeff,

Appreciate your quick response and recommendation.  Interesting that the Google packaging that the units came in were in pristine condition with no damage. FYI -  2 out of the 3 internal mounting posts for the top piece are broken.

That's definitely disappointing, spd7953. Hopefully it's not a case of someone repackaging something for a return, but I am unsure how the outside box could be in such good condition with so much internal damage. A drop could be possible if it landed completely flat on one side, however.

Thanks,
Jeff

Hey spd7953,

I just wanted to follow up and see if everything was still working reliably for you and to make sure you haven't had any troubles. Did you happen to try returning the WiFi setup, or are you comfortable with things as they are? Let me know if you have any additional questions or needs on this.

Thanks,

Jeff
