Delete develoler devices from Nest App

giusee
Community Member

Hi guys,

I have a problem with my account.

Years ago, as a developer, I added to my test-home some testing devices.

Now, I'd like to use Nest not as a developer but as a normal person 😊.

The problem is that I cannot remove the test devices.

If I click on remove device (on each devices), they disappear and, after the app reload, they reappear.

Why?

Hi @giusee

Can you try to create a new "home" and move the devices there? If you can do that you will be able to delete that "home".

Let us know if that works

Hi,

Thanks for your quick response.

How's the procedure to move the device from a home to another?

The procedure says:

"Simply remove it from your account in the app, select the new home in the app, then follow your device’s set up instructions."

But I'm unable to do the first step.

Thanks

On the page you screenshot press on that down arrow upper left, then next page + sign, create/add new home.

Also this has been an ongoing issue with users not being able to remove "ghost" devices.  Clearing app cache, data may help but I can escalate your issue over to the community specialists from Nest.

Let me know if the creating a new home then deleting the home works though-

Thanks!

Hi mate,

I was able to create a new home.

The problem is that I cannot move one device from a home to another.

I tried to clear cache and app's data after removing all the devices but no changes.

Is there a way to communicate the problem to your devs and let them clear all my devices?

Gotcha, I don't have a way to help with the dev side and we do see similar posts with inactive actual devices being difficult to remove. Not familiar with how the developer environment and test devices work in the app or where to actually remove them.

Let's escalate this over to the Community Specialists and see if they can help you out with some other ideas.

Hey folks,

@giusee How many devices that are actively linked to your account? If possible, try to set it up to a different home structure without removing it from the account. Keep us posted.

I appreciate the help, JillG.

Thanks,

Archie
