Flaky wi fi

Have Google Wi Fi with 3 points in a 2800 sq ft house, single family home in a residential area.  Occurs on Dell laptop, iPad and iPhone- had 2 points but bought a third to place within 20 feet of my work area earlier this month - continue sporadic wifi connect/disconnect issues.  Can go weeks without issues and then one day, I will be in the pot.  This week since Monday 3pm, more down than up for days.  Use Frontier GB Fiber (upgraded to get on another path outside the house a couple months back). Fiber does not come into the house; there is coaxial.  Moved coaxial in attic in case there was interference with A/C or TV antenna.  Problem was present before I hooked up the TV antenna. Replaced coaxial coming out of wall to MoA with new cable.  Tested Cat 5 cable from MoA to router (Google Wi Fi).  moved router to center of house and then into another room.  Problem continues.  Router sitting 4 foot high and the 3 points even higher; all mid room.  Blew away my whole configuration and re created with another name and password.  Used the new point as the router when creating the new network in case it was the Google Wi Fi router.   Maybe the name of my network was causing an issue with a neighbors network.  When Wi fi disconnects or flaps up and down, you can't get connection through Cat 5 port on point.  Sometimes can on router.  Trying wi fi standing 8" from router and can't connect but router and points are all steady light blue.   Frontier says it's a Google problem.  I quit the Frontier router to keep from having collisions with 2 wi fi's; this has been happening for about a year.   Some networks outside of my house have signals as strong as mine.  All I can figure it  has to be Frontier equipment/connection outside the house or collisions with channels .  Have @Anonymous connections to wi fi; cameras, TVs, exercise equipment - no gamers.  Usually this starts when I am home alone so not much load.  Frontier Techs have been on site a number of times in the past year and replaced most everything in the garage and checked further out. Any opinions?

Thank you Jeff, I was able to Chat and there is no solution for my issue.  I was advised to leave Google Home App Feedback since at the present time of how the google wi fi is configured, I will have to live with my issues.  The solution to my issue is to have the ability to have a static channel with my neighbor using multiple for his home networks, not to mention the other neighbors that may also be in this mix.  My connection will continue to drop as the Google Wi Fi scans for an available channel.

No. I’ll wait for enhancements or the neighbor to locate a new home ( they are actively looking)

Hi Lisa90540,

Thanks for reaching out. I'm sorry to hear that you're having an issue with your internet speeds. I see that you've already tried some troubleshooting steps to resolve this. I'd love to know more about this. Could you share us the following information:

  • Please try doing a mesh test on the Google Home app
  • Speed test results

Looking forward to your response.

Thanks,

Edward

Mesh Test is good and great between points when working and unable to run when Google Wi-Fi is not working.  Speed test up in 800+ range (paying for GB from Frontier).

My major concern is the wi-fi connection.  Speed is adequate for my needs.  Can not get Google Wi-Fi to be a reliable connection.  Had to re enable Frontier Wi Fi and use it for work & don’t need an extender I have found when using Frontier.

Hi Lisa90540,

It's me again, I wanted to check back in to see if you have other questions and concerns. Feel free to let me know if you do.

Thanks,

Edward

Still have times I can not use Google Wi-Fi because it can not find an available channel.

Speed was not my concern.

Hi, Lisa90540.

of course there are problems with disconnect on my Google wi-fi.  To keep my connection for work, I use the Frontier Wi-fi.  Sad I bought a system (router and 3 points) that doesn't work.  Speaking with friends that don't have issues, I am still lead to believe that the root of my issue is my next door neighbor when he is home.  Thought about buying a different system but the Frontier router works without any extenders.  I wanted to have all my pieces to be one brand.  Obviously when the google wi-fi works, I have no issues but I also don't see my neighbors multiple networks in my choices full force & stronger than my signals.  His networks are hard coded to channels while google's roam.

I understand that must be quite disrupting to your work, Lisa90540.

Have you tried chatting with support directly? You can reach them here: https://bit.ly/3o1aRK5.

I would try speaking with them by phone or via chat to see if they can get a deeper look at your setup while you are talking to them. The issue sounds pretty complicated, but they have additional tools available to diagnose those technical hurdles. I'll be happy to look into this with you, but they might be a faster solution on this.

Thanks.

I have attempted to locate a Chat for Google and have not been able to locate.  This is complicated and sad.  Sorry I don’t click on links from strangers.  If you could advise where I could locate Google chat, I will do that

I still don’t click on links especially right now with all the hacking attempts going on.  I am not locating a chat with google support when I search and yes, I am not getting reliable results from my google setup.

Hi, Lisa90540.

If you're unwilling to click on links, try just navigating to support.google/googlenest/gethelp on your own and you can be sure that you're navigating to a Google domain and website. It's there you'll be able to reach support.

Thanks.
