Google Home Router

I have a google mesh network and using the Google home app.  I have many devices that I have no idea what they are (they are likely from guests) so I would like to remove them.  How can I do this?

Hi @Ckpinckard!

Thanks for posting in the community.
I understand that there are some devices connected to your network that you can’t recognize and that you want to remove them from the network. Let me help you in this.

Here are some steps that you can try to remove those devices from the network.

  1. Change the WiFi password, then those devices won’t have access to the network.
  2. Pause the devices using the Google Home app.
    1. Open the Google Home app.
    2. Under Favorites, go to WiFi, then go to Devices and select the device you want to pause.
    3. Tap Pause and the device will be paused.

Tell me how it goes.

Thx for The reply.  My situation includes devices listed, not active, grayed out and idle.  They are not actively connected to my wifi but at one point were.  This is more of an annoyance and just making my search list long to find actual devices.  Can I removed grayed out /inactive devices?   Thx

Hi @Ckpinckard!

Thanks for your reply.
And also, thanks for the clarification. The issue is that there are many devices listed that are no longer working or connected to your network, but they are making a really long list of unused devices.

In this case, let me tell you that we still do not have the option to delete those devices. However, you can perform a factory reset through the Google Home app to your device; it will delete all the information on this device. Then you will need to set up the device again in your account and put the same name and password to the device to make the process easier, and then all the other devices on your home will connect automatically to the network.

For further information, you can check the next article: Factory reset your Wifi device

Keep me posted.

Regards,

Daniel.
