Already utilizing a Nest Router with Ethernet cable to existing tower. Today I finally understood that I wasn’t getting connectivity in other parts of the house because I didn’t have other WiFi points.
I went to BestBuy and after consulting someone there, they advised that the Router/combo pack with two devices permitted me to extend both to utilize on my existing network. He claimed they don’t sell the WiFi points individually, and when I first bought the original router it didn’t come with the additional point. So I currently have TWO routers and ONE point.
I got the WiFi point hardware set up with minimal fuss. However I’m trying to add the router as a Wifi point and the Google Home app is giving me trouble.
can I get this router linked with the existing router/WiFi? App seems to want to force me to scan QR code to set up a new WiFi.

Hi @Cuso2313
If you have a Nest Wifi (not Pro) and try to add a Nest Wifi Pro, this will not work.
The Nest Wifi Pro only works with other Nest Wifi Pro devices.
Every Nest Wifi Pro can work as a router or access point with the Nest Wifi Pro series.
Could you share if you have a not Nest Wifi Pro router? 🙂

Hey folks,
We appreciate your help here, @RXShorty.
@Cuso2313, I wanted to follow up and see if you are still in need of any help.
Nest Wifi Pro takes advantage of the benefits of the 6 GHz radio band to deliver a new level of Wi-Fi performance. Nest Wifi Pro runs the mesh connectivity between Nest Wifi Pro nodes exclusively over the 6 GHz band. Older models like the Nest Wifi don’t have a 6 GHz radio, so it can’t mesh with Nest Wifi Pro.
Please let me know if you are still having any concerns or questions from here, as I would be happy to take a closer look and assist you further.
Thanks,
Mel

Hi Cuso2313,
Thanks for clarifying that. Yes, you should be able to add a Google Nest Wifi router as an access point to your main Google Nest Wifi router. The setup process does ask the QR code to be scanned.
Try to add it again using your Google Home app. Let us know how it goes.
Best,
Mel

So, this actually is where I keep getting stuck. Because it asks for the QR code, I thought that meant that it was trying to set up the router.
Nonetheless, I have tried to proceed, and for whatever reason in the most well-lot steady areas it refused to pick up the QR code. I use this phone to add QR codes all the time and no problems. I even added other Google products through QR codes on this device. This one doesn’t catch.

Mel, disregard prior. I finally got it to work.
Thanks!!

I would get a 3pack mesh wifi system. This is what I do to maintain good connections on any floor of my home in any location. Hardwire one mesh router to the one you have connected to your internet source via ethernet. The other two can amplify the signal in other locations. These 3 devices will be a second network over a wider area with a different name and security you assign it.
