Google Nest WiFi - Guest Network Users Cannot Print

Hi! For various reasons, our children are on the Guest WiFi SSID. I need them to be able to print to the printer which is connected to the main WiFi SSID. Is this possible? I’m going nuts.

Hi everyone.

@Jeff and @wickywkw, thanks for the help.

@JessicaR, could you factory reset your network and reconnect your printer to your new Google Nest Wifi network?

Thanks,

Mel

Go into Google Home App. Click on "Guest Network" then check devices listed under "Shared devices"

Thanks, wickywkw! I did find this and checked that the Printer was selected as a "shared device", but unfortunately my problem remains. Let me know if you have other ideas!

Hi JessicaR,

wickywkw's suggestion was a good one. One thing you could try is putting the printer on the guest network to see if your children's devices can reach it at that point. Alternatively, you could put the children's devices on the main network and try to print. This would at least tell us if the issue is with the printer and the devices working together or if it's an issue with the main and guest network. Once you give that test a try, let me know what happens.

Thanks,

Jeff

Thanks, Jeff. I tried this and the kids are able to print if the printer is connected via the guest network.

It looks like the main wifi network has IP addresses that are in the 192.186.86.x range and the guest wifi network has IP addresses that are in the 192.186.87.x range. Could this be the problem?

Thanks!

Thanks, Mel. That seems to have done the trick. I appreciate the suggestion!

Hey JessicaR,

Awesome — glad to hear that your issue is fixed. It looks like we can consider this one complete, so I will lock the thread shortly unless I can help out with anything else.

Best,
Mel
