Hello,
Google Nest Wi-Fi has been working fine, no issue. Had a power outage today and had to restart everything, can get google nest wifi to work, however when connecting a Ethernet cable from google nest router to a netgear switch the entire internet goes out lan and WiFi then need to restart everything. The switch is approx. 6 moths old.
Everything was fine with the switch until we had a power outage today. After power was restored, and trying to restart network cannot get the lan lines to work through the switch. After spending time on the phone with google and internet provider got WiFi working but cannot get hard wire connection to work through the switch!
Could the switch have failed with the power outage? Checked the lan line from google nest router to a laptop and everything is fine, so I know the cable is good. However plugging that cable into a unmanaged netgear switch the entire internet goes out?
Pleas help!
Thank you,

Hello @Bgrove
It does sound like that switch may have gone bad. I have had this happen in the past, and since unmanaged switches are so inexpensive, I just replace them when it happens. I do try to have mine on UPS (or even just surge protectors), which I find helps them last longer. In your case, I would buy a new switch and see if it resolves the issue.

After a complete factory reset of Google Nest WiFi, getting WiFi to work and leaving everything alone over nite and the installing one Ethernet cable at a time my netgear switch is working again. However only plugged in two wires, for now. Will see how long it last?
