Google Wi-Fi and Hive Thermostats

Davy123

British Gas are offering to replace my boiler and also replace my Honeywell wireless thermostat with a Hive model. They say that my Android phone will be able to control the Hive thermostat.

The documentation states that the Hive hub must be plugged into a RJ45 socket on my router.  My Google Wi-Fi router does not have a spare RJ45 socket but the simple network switch attached to it does. (My broadband supplier's router does but anything plugged into that does not communicate with devices on the Google Wi-Fi network)

Has anyone any experience of mixing Hive hubs and Google Wi-Fi???

Hey Davy123,

Sorry for the late response here, but I wanted to check in to see if you were still looking for an answer on this, or if you had managed to find your solution. While I don't have a definitive answer for you, I was hoping someone in the community might. In most cases, using a switch will work out fine, but without verification from someone who has tested this setup, I can't confidently say for sure. If you still need help, let me know and I'll be happy to work on this with you to keep seeking an answer.

Thanks,

Jeff
