Google Wi-Fi only getting 2 Mbps download

rpossum
Community Member

My home internet is showing upload and download of around 900 meg per second.. but my Google Wi-Fi is showing almost 900 megs up but only 2mbps down. I've restarted the entire network including the Google Wi-Fi plus my main router and fiber modem. It's still reading the same as it was before restart

I changed the cable that connected to the Google Wi-Fi and that didn't make a difference

I've also done a reset through the Google Home software connection.

looks like it's been this way since June 9th

As you can see, my home computer that's connected directly to the same modem is working perfectly

Hello rpossum,

Thanks for reaching out. I'm sorry for this experience.

Let's try some recommended troubleshooting steps to resolve your issue. First of all, go ahead and turn off Preferred Activities in your network using the Google Home app. Once done, change your DNS servers to 8.8.8.8 on your primary server and 8.8.4.4 on your secondary server, respectively. Perform a 2-minute power cycle afterwards. Here's how:

  1. Disconnect the power from the modem.
  2. Disconnect the Ethernet cable and power cord from the parent point.
  3. Disconnect the power cord from the child points.
  4. Leave everything unplugged for 2 minutes.
  5. Connect the power cord to the modem then to your router and points.

Keep me in the loop.

Best,
Lovely
