I'm trying to set up a WiFi pro using a BT smart hub 2 on bridge mode. I just have standard FTTC rather than BT Infinity FTTP.
The setup tells me it's connected. Checks for updates but never Finds any then I have to name my network and create a password. It then tells me it's setting up my network but fails every time saying please make sure my WiFi and Bluetooth are on.
I'm a bit business user and have a static IP address. Im sure there is a way I can change the connection internet settings as part of the setup process but since it thinks it has a connection from the start I'm never given this option...
Ive never used the smart hub bridge mode so don't know if I need to do anything else to activate it properly. BT are no use on the issue at all.
Anyone had/solved this issue before?

Hey there Blackwood,
Thanks for posting and my apologies for the late response. I’m sorry to hear about your issue. You mentioned that you’re using standard FTTC and not the BT Infinity FTTP. To confirm, do you mean that you’re using a different Internet Service provider and not BT broadband? If that is the case, this could be why you’re having issues. I’ve checked the product description of your BT Smart Hub 2 here and the product description states that it will only work with BT broadband. If this is not the case, let me know so I can further help.

Abi

Hi Abigail. Not a problem I actually finally spoke to a very helpful customer service rep a little while ago who solved my issue with setup.
Now I am up and running I actually have another question..
The signal strength was always poor In my conservatory. Part of the reason I bought Google wifi. This is due to the thick outside wall the signal has to pass through. I understood that having a second hub in areas where the signal is poor would boost the signal to these places. However when I check my devices are still trying to connect to the living room WiFi with the poor signal even though I am standing right next to the WiFi point in the conservatory. Is there any way to force a device to connect to another point?

Hi again,
Thanks for the update. Could you try to unplug the power from the point you want your devices to disconnect to and then check if those devices will reconnect to the other one? I’ll wait for your update.
Thanks,
Abi

Hello again,
I'll keep this thread open until the end of the month to give you time to reply back to us. If it's the main router it's connected to, you can try swapping the point and the main router. You'll need to factory reset both devices and this will delete all network data. Use the one that was acting as a point as the main router instead and set up your network again. After that, check if your client devices connect to the point this time. Also, make sure you're nearer to the point when you try to reconnect them again. I'll wait for your update.

Abi
