Google WiFi will not factory reset

Ckoell

I noticed my Google wifi was no longer available to connect on my iPhone or lg smart tv.  I tried multiple times to restart my Google wifi device and spent over two hours in the phone with Google support.  They helped me perform several factory resets.  But we couldn’t get past the solid blue light the device kept showing. Finally they asked that I leave it unplugged for 12 hours and then perform another factory reset.  But unfortunately the solid blue line is still present, I have seen no other colors, and it will not find the device on my Google home app when trying to set it up again.  I have had this device for around 2 years with no big issues.  Can someone help?

2 of my access points have done this exact same thing. Support was unable to help so I'm buying replacements now. I'm scared to buy used ones because of this problem. They are still way too expensive new. Sad to see that their new version is not backwards compatible.

Okay, I’m thinking I may have to buy one myself.  Reached out to Google about a replacement but have yet to hear from anyone.  The solid blue line indicates it’s performing factory reset but it’s been that color for 48hrs.  Thanks for the info

Hello Everyone,

Thanks for posting in the community.
I understand the frustration of being unable to factory reset your Google WiFi device. I apologize for the inconvenience this is causing. I also appreciate your effort.

To assist you in resolving this issue, please provide the following information:

  • Please specify the exact model of your Google WiFi point (e.g., Google WiFi, Nest WiFi).
  • Is this an issue with only one device?
  • Error Messages: Are you encountering any specific error messages during the reset process?

Here are some additional troubleshooting steps you can try:

  1. Unplug and Replug: Ensure the Google WiFi point is completely unplugged from the power source for at least 30 seconds before plugging it back in.
  2. Try a Different Power Outlet: Connect the Google WiFi point to a different power outlet.
  3. Try a different power cable. If you have other points, try using a different cable.

Please let me know how it goes. Thank you.

All the best,
Jorge
