Google Wifi with solid blue light

I have an old Google Wi-Fi since early 2018. It has been working perfectly until this morning. It shows solid blue light. I tried unplug the power and let it sit for 30+ min and restarted but it did not work. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Hi stuart3184,

A solid blue light on Google Wifi means the device is doing a factory reset. Let’s do a manual reset on your Google Wifi device. If you see a reset button at the bottom of the device, you have Google Wifi (2nd gen). But if the button is at the back part of the LED, you have the Google Wifi (1st gen).

  • Google Wifi (2nd gen)
  1. Press and hold the factory reset button for 10 seconds.
  2. The light will flash orange, then turn solid blue. Once the light is solid blue, release the factory reset button.
  3. The Google Wifi point starts the reset process. Don't remove the Google Wifi point's power cord during this time. The factory reset can take up to 10 minutes.
  4. Once complete, the light turns from solid blue to pulsing blue to indicate the device is ready for setup.
  • Google Wifi (1st gen)
  1. Unplug the Google Wifi points from the power source.
  2. Press and hold down the factory reset button. While the button is held down, plug the power cable back in. Continue to press the button until the Google Wifi point's LED flashes white, then blue. Once it flashes blue, release the button.
  3. The point will continue to flash blue for about 45 seconds, then turn solid blue. The factory reset can take up to 10 minutes.
  4. Once complete, the light turns from solid blue to pulsing blue to indicate it's ready for setup.

Regards,
Alex
