My google home app is completely reset and it will not pick up any devices however I have two mesh pods set up and they were working fine for the last two years. Today it is asking me to set up the app and when I try to no connection and no devices.

Are you logged into the same Google account in the Google Home app that set up your Google Wifi initially? A Google Home home is tied to a Google account.
Last resort is to factory reset all Google Wifi units using the physical button ( https://support.google.com/googlenest/troubleshooter/13816290?hl=en ) then set them up from scratch ( https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9548301?hl=en ). Be sure to reuse the network name (SSID) and password, then your devices will reconnect automagically.
