My Google nest has never had an issue until recently. Last week on Wednesday the Wi-Fi started going in and out. The internet remained working but the Wi-Fi would go in and out. I called Spectrum they said something was wrong with the modem and yesterday they said they fixed it. They are now claiming that it is Google that is the issue. Spectrum said that I'm probably on a channel that a lot of people are on and that's the issue. I spoke to someone from Google yesterday and they troubleshooted the issue. The internet has still been calling on and off and I don't know what to do. I have already unplugged the modem and the router and then plug the modem waiting for the internet to work and plugged in the router. I have reset the priorities and my modem is a modem alone. I need help.

I found a solution - purchased another mesh router from TP-Link. Works a dream! But now stuck with having spent hundreds the Google one that sits in a drawer

Same here. I gave up and bought Orbi - working perfectly. But, like you, I now have 3 expensive paper weights!

Which one did you buy?

I had this same issue and went through these forums multiple times without finding a fix. I had been using my roku ultra on wireless mode right next to my main mesh router. Once I connected the router directly to the roku via Ethernet cable, my issue has stopped for the last week. I have no idea why that would be a problem, but it seems to have corrected my issue. Hope it works for others.

Today i move on without Google anything. The company has shady business practices - i dropped Google Fiber because they thought it was alright to remove money from my checking account even after I had returned their devices 3 weeks earlier and they had credited my account. They claimed it was their right. (funny thing, I bought and returned something to Home depot and my account was credited that day) Evidently its a practice they have done before. And now they are continuing to advertise and sell wifi nest products that haven’t been working for over a year. I believe they think its their right to do that too. Sadly, nothing will ever come out of this for all the people who have been screwed over by Google and this supposed wifi product. My only regret is that Google just can not seem to man-up and take responsibility for this broken product.

i do want to thank the countless responders on this forum who have spent countless hours trying to figure out and diagnose solutions for this issue. Sadly, Google is not one of them.  Go figure. Also want to thank those who have recommended alternative wifi systems.

Hey folks,

I'm sorry you feel that way, macfrog713. If you're still willing to continue with us, try these steps:

  1. Make sure that there is minimal to no interference (concrete, bulletproof glass, metal, mirror, etc.)
  2. Remove any special characters in your network name and password.
  3. Set a custom DNS at 8.8.8.8 on the primary and 8.8.4.4 on the secondary server. Hit the save/ floppy disk icon on the upper right.
  4. Unplug the power from your Google Wifi devices for 2 minutes.
  5. If the issue persists, try factory resetting your network.

Let us know how it goes.

Best,

Mel

Hi everyone,

Chiming in to see if you still need assistance with this. Hope the previous post helped. Let us know if you have additional questions ― we'd love to help.

Best,
Mel

This didn’t help. My network is as unreliable as ever. I get random disconnects all the time. I have no idea how to troubleshoot because the Google app is a black box. I cannot think of any other solution than to switch to different hardware.

Everyone still needs assistance with this.

The only people that don't are the people who bought other hardware or (like me) sullied their house by running ethernet through it. Kind of defeats the purpose of a Mesh 'Wifi' system.

The steps you shared have been shared before and provide no solution. If you read through the entirety of this thread, along with similar threads, these issues have persisted for almost two years. Most people experiencing these inexcusable disconnection issues have given up and likely switched to another option and don't care to deal with Google anymore. I frustratingly had to purchase a new Nest router system to replace the previous one because we have so many other Nest products that it's too significant an investment to switch. The previous Nest router disconnected 5-10x a day and made working from home nearly impossible. When I called tech support, after troubleshooting the issue for weeks, there was no solution and they wouldn't replace the system because it was two months past the warranty. I now recommend your competitor's products.

Anyone else also stupid enough to have a google house??

My speakers (max, mini, nest audio, home hub max and home hub mini) stutter and cannot do voice controlled casting.

My home hub max camera doesn't work

My google pixel buds were shipped twice, and ultimately both returned for refund... sooo soo bad

The nest wifi has been returned but was the worst experience of all.

So much money wasted.

Hi eljefe101,

I'm sorry about that. Could you fill out this form again?

Thanks,

Mel

Ok, I've filled it our for the 3rd time using #. I copied my reply here, please advise what you guys are doing about this crazy issue and thread!

I first posted almost a year ago about this issue. In my research it looks like google got slapped with a patent infringement and was forced to push out a firmware update to make it right. Then everyones wifi suddenly stopped working. For a year now you have a thread of pissed off people with absolutely zero fixes or even hope of someone caring. Then you pop in and ask if anyone needs anything? I've tried every fix in this thread with zero success. I used to really trust google products, but this whole experience has made me really distrust google and their ability or willingness to do whats right and take care of it's customers. In my mind, the only thing that you can do to make it right is give a full refund for the 3 units that we have. That is not to even mention the countless hours you've costed us with the internet going up and down and having to reset it multiple times each day. Extremely frustrating and a huge loss of respect unless someone does something to make it right. Jeff

At this point it's pretty clear Google has decided it's too expensive to fix this issue so their goal is to string us along for as long as possible and hope we move on.
