My Google nest has never had an issue until recently. Last week on Wednesday the Wi-Fi started going in and out. The internet remained working but the Wi-Fi would go in and out. I called Spectrum they said something was wrong with the modem and yesterday they said they fixed it. They are now claiming that it is Google that is the issue. Spectrum said that I'm probably on a channel that a lot of people are on and that's the issue. I spoke to someone from Google yesterday and they troubleshooted the issue. The internet has still been calling on and off and I don't know what to do. I have already unplugged the modem and the router and then plug the modem waiting for the internet to work and plugged in the router. I have reset the priorities and my modem is a modem alone. I need help.

Yet another "me too" on this issue, but mine seems to be a bit different, so indulge me for a second.
I've an Google Nest AC2200, with one router and one point. The router is connected to a Cox Panorama modem/router set to bridge mode, so it's not sending a competing wifi signal.
The router is on the ground floor of a two story, 800sq ft condo, and the point is on the floor above it, and laterally about 25' away. When I test the mesh, it says they have a "great connection".
Recently when a device is connected to the point, we would get a "no internet" message, and not be able to connect to anything. If we unplugged the point, and connected straight to the Nest router, it has internet. We then plug the point back in, and once it re-boots, everything works fine. The point DOES NOT reconnect by itself once it loses connection to the router.
I've only had this set-up for about a year, and the problem seems to have cropped up rather recently. This is in a vacation home, so we're not here for months at a time. We have a security system, which includes cameras, intrusion detection and remote locks, so we need a good reliable system. This was it, but it's not anymore.
Our main home has an Orbi 2 piece mesh system, and has worked flawlessly for a long time, over an area about twice the size of the place with the Google system. The Orbi also cost a whole lot more!
I have the same firmware as others have noted here, and while I have no idea when that firmware was downloaded, I wouldn't be surprised if it's the culprit.

I have a cabin with Google mesh second home, it has Sattelite for data, it never goes offline, ??? WTF! My home has same system with fiber, so here I am on this thread pi$$ed off about it. GD Google screwed me! I have a new mesh system called plume provided by my ISP and it is set to bridge mode also like yours. 2 systems running side by side, the plume also is flawless but not the Google, oh h*ll no. So I put it on a smart plug so it turns itself off at 3 a.m. when I’m not using it every night.

I think it's coz it's the wifi dropping out, not the router itself. I've had the problem where the wifi has dropped out on my router, but hard wired devices (via a wired switch) continue to access the internet just fine.

Checking in from aus.
I set my inlaws up on nest wifi. They complained of constant drop-outs so I swapped their nest wifi for my google wifi... massive mistake.
My house with google wifi - perfect.
My in laws house with google wifi - perfect
My house with nest wifi - constant drop-outs
In laws house with nestwifi - Co stant drop-outs.
The one variable: nest wifi.
This thread runs years and hundreds of complaints, how is there not a recall?
Clearly nest wifi doesn't work, clearly google is aware it doesn't.
None of the "solutions" work.
This is exactly like the pixel buds....

I am having the same issue. ISP came out, tested all connections/cables to do with ISP service, no issues. I have massive disconnect times, a "roller coaster" of connection if you will, and cannot find any solution. This happens both over Wi-fi and wired, on many devices at the same time. I use a gaming PC on wired, have the modem and router on a UPS (protected power supply, won't allow for power issues to affect hardware) and this issue still persists. I have replaced all ethernet cables, nothing has worked. I changed my DNS to the Google on my modem and router, changed to bridge mode, nothing worked. Next step for me is to get rid of this Google *ish* and get a better, more reputable setup. This is infuriating. Only thing that does work is when I do a direct connection between my modem and PC, but then I lose Wi-fi, so that defeats the purpose of having this

To all of those who have had this issue, as I have... I ended up replacing mine with a different brand. I setup the same SSID and password on the new router, and had the exact same issue with that system (TP-Link). So, I decided to reset that system to it's defaults and then setup a new SSID. I then had to rejoin things, one at a time, but have not had the problem on the new TP-Link since I did that. That tells me that it was a particular device or devices that were causing the problem. I have not joined all of my devices to this new wifi network yet to determine which one(s) were causing the problem, but you all may want to give it a shot. Power off wifi enabled devices, and start with one device connected to it, adding additional devices one at a time until you discover which device(s) is causing the problem. Worth a shot if you haven't tried it yet.

Incredibly frustrating issue. I began experiencing the same issue this past March.
04-15-2022 09:58 AM
Add another fish to the sea. Mine all of a sudden has gotten aweful also. I was somehow contacted by Google and was advised that my router was dropping signal and that they would send me a new one. After

Well, I'm bailing... Deco system will be replacing this worthless, constantly dropping, garbage on Tuesday. I've tried, but I and my partner work from home and it's unacceptable to constantly have drop outs. It was a good product until the last 2 firmware updates, but now it literally doesn't do it's core function. Just another piece of Google hardware I regret buying....

Update - I started experiencing issues many months ago and they have persisted for a very long time. But I'm happy to say that I have not seen a single wifi dropout in 6 weeks. I did have one period of lost internet during this time but that was confirmed to be an ISP issue. So fingers crossed that the issue was fixed for me. And no, I haven't changed anything or done anything that I can think of that might have caused the problem to go away. It just did. At least for now.

FWIW, since the last firmware update, I have had no problems with dropouts, slow speeds or anything else.

I’m having the same issues. Google Wi-Fi router disconnects from internet randomly, will not reconnect unless power down to reset. 2 additional points in house. Factory reset did not help. This is driving my wife crazy!! Have been using this Google setup for 2 plus years. This issue developed 2-3 months ago

I recently switched from Ubiquity to Google Nest WIFI. Boy am I disappointed. Installation was easy but they keep disconnecting. My family is asking why we switched! UGH! Any updates on this issue?
06-15-2022 07:18 PM
I have reduced my mesh from six points and the router to 4 point plus the router and have found that it has fixed my problem. I am not sure why that solved it, to many points or was it one of the removed points was causing the drops.
06-15-2022 08:13 PM
I was wondering the same thing. I had one Google WIFI point from a previous batch that was in the garage. I disconnected it and see if that was the issue. We shall see. Some say Great Connection despite the fact they are farther away from the router than ones that say Good Connection.

My Google nest is doing the same thing and only in the past few days. It will work fine for a while then points start showing red and i get a message on my computer saying no internet connection. I have powered off and reset which fixes it for 5 to 10 mins then the same again.
Has anyone found a permanent answer to this VERY annoying issue?
06-26-2022 10:37 PM
Hi I have also tried all of the above and still experience multiple drop outs . My google nest system is still in warranty has anyone had any luck returning it for this issue?
06-26-2022 10:41 PM
Yes, many have, make sure you contact Nest Wifi support about it: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp?hl=en

Hey All,
Been having the same issue here for about 6 weeks. Tried all fixes mentioned with no success. Anyone have confirmed fixes? Is there a way to revert or hard reset the firmware? Not sure if the Google home wifi reset or bottom reset button reverts the firmware.
06-28-2022 11:07 AM
Hi Jeff, So this has been happening ever since the firmware update back in November 2021. The system worked fine for over a year before that when I bought it. I replaced the whole system in January 2022 thanks to Costcos great return policy and the same thing happened. I've tried all the fixes posted but nothing works. It appears there has been another software updated since then but I don't remember the previous version number. It currently drops internet every couple minute for 30-60 seconds each time.
06-29-2022 07:08 PM
Still not fixed. This is effin' ridiculous.
07-06-2022 04:50 PM
Happening to me as well. It makes WFH impossible, throwing this system in the trash (I don't feel comfortable reselling something broken) and never buying Google hardware ever again.
07-06-2022 04:57 PM
I switched to Orbi several months ago and have had no issues since. However, my ISP is VERY SHADY! Go with the old saying, if it ain't broke don't fix it. When it's broke you need to fix it and move on before it breaks you in more ways. It's very tough when you spend so much money and time for a system that should work the same way it always did without you changing anything. Its the world we live in...

I’m having the same issue. My devices disconnect from WiFi constantly, then reconnect, it works for a minute, the. The connection drops again. Very frustrating, especially because the google system is a black box and you can’t really troubleshoot this. The home app shows that everything is fine. I have a nest router and 4 points, in a mesh configuration.
07-26-2022 05:10 PM
I have solved the problem changing the configuration to bridge mode on the nest wifi router, but some characteristics of the wifi don't work (connected devices, historical information), but it works without problem, that's for me is what matters.
07-26-2022 05:13 PM
I don’t think you can do that if you run your devices in a mesh network. The points are all in bridge mode but the main router is not.
07-26-2022 05:18 PM
Exactly!
07-26-2022 05:21 PM
I guess that the network configuration would be provided by the internet router, when the nest wifi router is in bridge mode, but I cannot confirm it because I just have the router.

Hi everyone,
Thanks for sharing your experiences with the disconnects you're seeing. Sorry about the frustration this must be causing. This is actually something we're looking at internally right now and we have a few other threads discussing this. I'm monitoring the threads and I'm in touch with internal team members. As soon as I know more, I'll update you all. In the meantime, please keep sharing your troubleshooting efforts.
Thanks,
Jeff

Hey Jeff. Thanks for joining the conversation. I wanted to explain my issues. I have 2 access points to go with my nest hub. Staring fall last year I started experiencing the points losing connection with the hub. My connections initially look great, then a week or 2 later the signal shows as good or weak. Then they disconnect completely. I went through a lot of troubleshooting with support. They tried to blame my ISP for some timeouts they saw. Never could explain why this would cause the points to disconnect or why they would never recover from it. For now I have to leave my points disconnected. My wife and I work from home and cannot afford disconnect during work hours

"Looking at internally now"??
Now?
As in not before your message?

Jeff,
I've had to reboot my Nest network 3 times today!!! (not an ISP issue). I'm also wondering why "Nest Wi-Fi" isn't an option when calling in for Nest Device support?? - they have doorbells, thermostats, and every other Nest Device listed but NOT wi-fi, is it REALLY that bad that Google won't even list it? After waiting on hold and wasting even more time with the rep, I am more frustrated than ever!! Given Google Nest has a new 6E product line coming out, I don't think it's unreasonable to request a free upgrade ASAP for myself and all the other users that have been affected for years by these lingering and inexcusable technical issues. Please let me know what info I need to provide to obtain my free Nest 6E upgrade (courtesy of Google)

Hi Jeff - is there nay update on this or anything we can do before I follow same route as others and toss these expensive paper weights and purchase something else? PS If I do this I will be looking to file a claim with Fair Trading Australia and NCAT as this is not fit for purpose under the Australian Consumer Guarantee Laws

Same problem, same timing. Different isp. What did google change? Can you undo it?
