Google nest mesh test failing but everything shows connected (2)

My mesh is working but has some issues like periodic disconnections and speed slow downs. The Home app says that all 4 points are connected and have strong signals. I can run a speed test on the router node and it shows 1GB down and 400Mb up which is correct. However when I try to run a mesh test it fails and says "Mesh test failed <cr> Make sure your wifi router is plugged in" I have done a full reboot of the mesh, power cycled the router node, made sure that I have the latest version of software on all nodes as well as the latest version of the app on my phone. Why is this happening? I noticed this about week ago.

Hello @chferreir!

Thank you for bringing your concern to our attention and posting it in the community. I apologize for the inconvenience you're experiencing with your Nest WiFi mesh.

I understand that your mesh is experiencing frequent outages, even though the Google Home app indicates strong signals on all points. Let's work together to resolve this issue.

Before any guidance or additional steps, please provide the following information:

  • Can you connect devices wirelessly?
  • Can you connect devices  via Ethernet?
  • Are you using a modem-router combo?
  • What is the current color of the light on the parent point? Does the device LED switch from orange to teal (or white) continuously?
  • How far is the device from the primary point?

Once we have this information, we can diagnose the issue and provide a solution.

Warm regards,

Catheryn

Thanks for responding. Answers are inline below.

  • Can you connect devices wirelessly? Yes
  • Can you connect devices  via Ethernet? Yes
  • Are you using a modem-router combo? I have Xfinity and the Xfinity router is in Bridge mode with the wireless turned off. The Router node for the Google mesh is connected to it.
  • What is the current color of the light on the parent point? Does the device LED switch from orange to teal (or white) continuously? White continuous.
  • How far is the device from the primary point? So I have 5 totals nodes. 1 router and 4 mesh clients. The main issue is that wifi works 95% of the time I get the error when I try to test the mesh using the app on my Pixel 6 Pro. It would be useful if there was more to the error then "Is your router unplugged" but alas.
