Google nest wifi guest set-up

Nederlander

I'm leaving the country and will be renting my house to a tenant for a year.  I'd like to set up a guest network on my Google Nest wifi.  If I do this, will my tenant's usage be private to me?  I'd like to be able to tell the tenant that I can't view or otherwise access his or her internet usage.  Any suggestions?

I would create a guest network as you may leave behind your own devices such as a TV which are still going to be on the network.  It is always best to create a segregated network for your guests and keep in mind almost everything today Connects to the Internet check what you are leaving behind

Google nest products do not store, save or display anything as far as where people search nor will you be able to see anything of use

Thanks S3bryan.  You're right, I think I'm mixing up the features of the Google Home app with the Google Family Link app, which can monitor sites.  But looking at the Google Home app, I can view and control what devices are attached to the wifi and I can pause/unpause.  Is that about the extent of what I'd be able to do to a guest?  I'm looking to assure any future tenant that with my Google system, I can't be looking into their private usage.

Importantly, the Google Wifi app, Wifi features of the Google Home app, and your Google Wifi and Nest Wifi devices do not track the websites you visit or collect the content of any traffic on your network. However, your Google Wifi and Nest Wifi devices do collect data such as Wi-Fi channel, signal strength, and device types that are relevant to optimize your Wi-Fi performance. Google policies and terms of services apply as normal to any Google services you use (like Gmail or Google search), whether you’re using them on a Google Wifi or Nest Wifi network or not.

You are correct you will just need to behave yourself so that you don’t lock them out of the Wi-Fi lol

Got it, thanks.  I've never set up the guest network before, but I'm assuming that's a better idea to provide to a tenant.

Hi, Nederlander.

It looks like you and S3bryan were able to sort this out. Before I mark things as resolved, I just wanted to check in to see if there's anything else you needed here. If there's more I can do, just let me know.

Thanks.
