Google nest wifi router with 2 mesh points keep dropping

We have tried all troubleshooting including factory resets. We have Verizon Fios as the modem hardware and service, hardwired to the main Google Nest router. It used to work fine. Over the last year it has gotten worse with consistent dropped connections from the mesh points as well as the main wired point. I can't even upload a photo to linkedin at times. We have had Verizon out here and they claim there is no disruption from their side but see the disruptions from modem to router but can't help since it isn't their hardware.

We live in a 1200 sq foot apartment and the points are in a straight line only one room away with no water or electrical interference.

Any suggestions. the system was very expensive to just ditch.

Hi @mcmac

Thanks for posting here in the community. I'm sorry to hear your 2 mesh points keep dropping. Help's here!

To better understand the situation, I'd like to ask a few questions:

  • Do you use a modem and router combo?
  • What’s the color of the light on the parent point?
  • Does the device LED switch from orange to teal (or white) continuously?
  • How far is the router from the primary point?
  • Is there a switch on the network?
  • How far are the Wifi points from each other?

In the meantime, let's check a few things:

Keep me posted.

Best regards,

Melany

  • Do you use a modem and router combo? yes
  • What’s the color of the light on the parent point? white
  • Does the device LED switch from orange to teal (or white) continuously?no
  • How far is the router from the primary point? we have had it about 30 ft to 20 ft from the 1st mesh. We have Google nest router, and two mesh points in less than 1300 square ft. it's a nightmare with wifi dropping all the time now. Version tested the ethernet wires and they are fine. Seems to be only the wifi signal from the router.
  • Is there a switch on the network? no
  • How far are the Wifi points from each other? wifi points are about 10 feet from each other... back to back rooms.

We have factor hard reset and reset up twice. at first it works swell then as the day goes on and a day or two after the signal goes back to not staying connected. the worst.

Why is little to no tech support for a system that costs so much? I've been trouble shooting this for years now and never getting any help to have the machine looked at for hardware. Is google not continuing its improvements in the router and mesh sector? no offer to look at the machine or anything is weird customer service.
