Google wifi and WPA3 with Nest cameras

Marreroinmaine

I wanted to turn on the WPA3 security as it is recommended.  When I tried all my Nest cameras (wired and wireless) lost connectivity and the only way to get it back was to turn off WPA3.  Should they not work on WPA3?  I only bought them in June, so they should be the 2nd gen.

The specs say the Google Nest Camera (Battery), the Google Nest Doorbell (Battery), and the Google Nest Floodlight Camera all support WPA3 encryption, but other customers report it does not work. On this thread, Google Nest Community Specialists would not respond to whether WPA3 encryption worked or not:

The question that needs answering is whether WPA3 encryption actually works on the Google Nest Camera (Battery), the Google Nest Doorbell (Battery), and the Google Nest Floodlight Camera.  Other customers report that it cannot.  Can you answer that?

Hey folks,

@MplsCustomer, thanks for clarifying that.

@Marreroinmaine, WPA3 is supported by the Nest Cameras, however, it has security added features that may need reaching out to your ISP to turn on.

Best,

Mel

Thank you, what features so I know when I call?

Hi Marreroinmaine,

You can confirm this with your ISP.
