Hi folks,

That certainly isn’t the experience we want you to have. A few questions: are you using a modem/router combo from your Internet Service Provider (ISP)? Which Google/Nest router are we working with? What device are you using to set up your network (iOS or Android)? Do you have the Internet from your modem?

You can do a sequential reboot of your entire network and see if that helps, or please perform a 2-minute power cycle on your entire network to re-establish the connection on your connected devices. Here's how:

  1. Disconnect the power from the modem.
  2. Disconnect the Ethernet cable and power cord from the parent point.
  3. Disconnect the power cord from the child points.
  4. Leave everything unplugged for 2 minutes.
  5. Connect the power cord to the modem then to your router and points.

It would also be helpful if you could re-install your Google Home app.

Thanks for helping, olavrb!

Best,

Dan

I don't think it is hardware (google router) issue - I can measure speed. But that is not saved in application (Google Home Android app).

Restarting google router and all nodes (I have 4 in total) is a no go - I have ~50 devices on wifi (IoT, media, computers, etc). Reinstall Google app? Isn't it too drastic? Isn't there "reset" option?  Again - I have a lot of devices which are managed by app, and not sure I have to re-setup some of them after reinstalling app. Good thing you didn't go to extent of buying new phone 🙂

Hi Vlad3,

Just so we’re on the same page, are you using the Google Home app or a different one? The Google Wifi app has been deprecated since it’s already been incorporated in the Google Home app. Which app are you using?

Looking forward to your response.

Regards,

Dan

Google wifi doesn't exist for awhile. So I'm using Google Home, which has Wifi part in it.

Cheers

Vlad

Hey Vlad3,

Thanks for the confirmation. Could you send here a screenshot of the internet/speed data usage from your Google Home app? Here’s how:

  1. Hit reply or Start a new post.
  2. Click Insert Image.
  3. Choose an image source location.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions
  5. Also, you can tap the "Drag and Drop" option. Maximum attachment is 5 MB

Keep us posted, and tell us why you had to check the status of your connection. Are there latencies or drops? What is the result when doing a speed test?

Best regards,

Dan

I don't see "insert image" option in mobile browser (on the phone). Will check on computer browser. But screenshot is done on the phone - so it would be nice to insert image from the phone directly. As for "why I measure speed" - wanted to what speed is. Also in a past app would measure speed regularly on its own every day (every second day?).And in the past I would see about two weeks of history .

Hey there,

You can take a screenshot from your Google Home app, go back to the Google Community, and reply here. You should be able to see a camera icon saying insert photos.

Trying drag-n-drop.

Doesn't work - but I got warning
"You do not have permission to upload images."

Hello there,

We appreciate your patience and for sending the required screenshot. To further isolate — when did this issue start to happen? Were there drops in connection and slow speed issues?

Your Google Home app might not always show the speed you’re getting. Doing a speed test might get you there. Follow the steps below:

With the Google Home app:

  1. Open the Google Home app .
  2. Tap Favourites and then Wifi and then Network performance and then Run speed test.

Note: To view your previous speed test results, swipe to the bottom.

With the Google Assistant:

  1. Say 'Hey Google, what's my Internet speed?'
  2. Available with Nest Wifi or Google Wifi in the Home app. Learn more about setting up Voice Match and controlling your devices by voice.

Let us know how it goes.

Cheers,

Dan

Can't tell exactly when it started - about month or few back.

Can't recall whether there were internet outage(s) lately - my provider is quite reliable.

Moreover - data usage for 7 day and 30 days period is wrong - same every day, which is not right.
