I have the same issue. I'm connected to the same network and have placed my phone RIGHT ON TOP of the Google WiFi puck, no hidden network configuration, and my phone cannot detect the Google WiFi.

Same issue.

For my network I had to reconfigure my home in the app (deleted my Home and created a new one) in addition to factory resetting my router and access points.  It took a couple of tries with factory resetting my AP's before I got my entire mesh network showing up well in the Home app.

Are you guys trying to configure a new network, or modifying an existing one? If the last, are you sure you are logged in to the Google Home app with the exact same Google account that configured up the pucks in the first place? If not, you won't see them in the Google Home app

If the first, you could try this alternative way of entering the setup process:

Basically using an ethernet cable from it to a PC, enter a web page that tells you what SSID to connect to manually, the enter Google Home setup process.

I don't work for Google.

google home app does not see my router
I bought a second hand google wifi "hockey puck" router
QR code and network name, all on the router itself
My phone and MacBook do not see my router in the list of Wi-Fi networks
I did a factory reset
also the QR code cannot be recognized in any way

Hey, Mifistos.

Sorry for the issues you're having getting this extra WiFi point set up. That sounds quite frustrating, but we can figure out what's going on for you here. I do have a few questions that should help us figure it out.

  • What country are you in?
  • Where did you purchase the additional WiFi point?
  • Do you know if the WiFi point is from the same country as your main router?
  • After the factory reset on the additional point, do you see it showing any colors? If so, what color?

If you can let me know a little more, we can definitely get this worked out. I look forward to hearing from you.

Thanks.

hi. thank you for your reply
1 My country is Germany
2 I bought a point on ebay (I don’t know which country it belongs to)
3 yes, I know the WiFi hotspot is in the same country as my main router
4 after restoring factory settings, it will pulsate blue
!!! this google wifi point is not in the list of wi-fi points, the google wifi point is not seen by the smartphone or the MacBook, so I cannot start setup settings
can there be a way to reflash it?
maybe it is blocked?

Hi, Mefistos.

Thanks for the updated info. The pulsing blue is normal, indicating that it's ready for setup. It's good to see that part functioning. The factory reset process is essentially the same as "flashing" the device as it returns it to a factory fresh state.

There is one thing that we can try. Can you take the problematic point and wire it directly to your modem as if it was a primary router and see if it shows up in the Home app? You don't need to go through setup, just see if you were to try and set up a new network with it as the primary point if the Home app is able to recognize it. If it shows properly, we can move to next steps.

Thanks.

Hi, Jeff
My dot is flashing orange
Yes i tried to connect directly to the modem
Tried to connect directly to the internet cable
no sign of displaying in google home
I want to connect it as the main point
I have no more options what I can do I tried all the instructions
Could it be that it is tied to another google account and therefore it is not displayed?

Hey, Mefistos.

So if you have factory reset the device, it will no longer be connected to any other accounts. That would clear all account settings. With a flashing orange status, it means that the device is not receiving an internet connection. Either the device is faulty and not able to connect at all, or the signal being sent to the device is not actively connected to the Internet.
