Here’s a new one: duplicate devices in device list make it impossible to prioritize the device

Not only do I have a Bajillion unnamed devices on my device list, now I have numerous instances of the same devices. For example, my iPad is called paddmax I want to prioritize paddmax so when I go to the device list and hit prioritize device, I am faced with no less than nine instances of paddmax, and I’ve selected four of them and none of them are the actual device I’m on.

Spoiler
inability to efficiently prioritize, any devices due to multiple chances of the devices appearing on the device list.

Links to screenshots one and two . This nullifies yet another function/feature of the service. #win

Probably due to MAC randomization.

Its happening with my Nest Hubs and Nest Hub Max as well. Every other day I get an alert that a new device has been added to my network, and its one of the hubs. No one has reconnected or changed anything, its just accumulating additional duplicate devices.

I am the only one that lives in my house and have not changed anything in my settings. This started happening roughly 2-3 weeks ago and now have over 30 duplicates of different Nest Hubs.

If you compare info on duplicate devices in the Google Home app, do they all have the exact same MAC address too?

No, the MAC addresses for the Nest Hubs are different. How could I prevent it from changing? They are the only thing in my house doing this.

Interesting. I don't know, that's not a Nest Wifi question. Create a new thread in Nest Hub I guess?

Hi Abigail - the issues persist, as does the increasingly long list of unnamed devices I can’t get rid of.

Hello evanovich,

Let’s try this. Follow the steps below to remove devices from your account:

  • Go to the Security section of your Google Account.
  • Under “Third-party apps with account access,” select Manage third-party access.
  • Select the speakers that have the duplicate you want to remove.
  • Select Remove Access.

Let us know if that helps.

Regards,

Abi

so its not speakers im having issue with, its my ipad, iphone, macbook, a pixel 7, and a bajillion unnamed devices. so ive logged out of my google account on all my devices, which now means i have to log back in to my google account on all those devices (so fun). Lets see if that makes a difference.

It’s still happening. Even with “private Wi-Fi address” turned off on all my devices, combination of apple , Samsung, and google devices.
