The controller to my pool can only be accessed while I'm on my home network (because the phone and the controller are on the same network). I would like to be able to access the controller when I'm not on the local network. The controller is accessed via an android app. I figured if I had a VPN set up, then i could connect to the VPN as if I was on my home network and then access the controller.
Since Google Wifi doesn't have direct VPN support I'd have to set up the VPN either behind the routers or some other way.
I don't really need the VPN to access anything else on the network, I just want to be able to see the local pool controller and change settings while I'm away.
I'm wondering how to set this up and what would be a cheap/free solution or am I completely misunderstanding how VPNs work and I wouldn't be able to see the local controller even with a VPN that connects to my network.

Completely out of scope for this community as it's not really Nest Wifi related, you might have better luck on Reddit "HomeNetworking" or similars subs.
That said, maybe Tailscale in a container or raspberry pi might be something to look into?

Thanks for the reply olavrb,
Google One should be coming out with a VPN that can be used on windows devices instead of just android, but I'm not sure if that will help me accomplish this goal.
I'll check reddit subs

Hey FJmanG,
Awesome — glad to hear that your issue is fixed. It looks like we can consider this one complete, so I will lock the thread shortly unless I can help out with anything else.
Best,
Abi
