Hi, my original Google WiFi isn’t working with IPV6. I hadn’t used the system for a while, and a few weeks ago I plugged it in, the routers connected to the internet fine AND gave me IPV6 fine, however the routers were not showing in the Google Home app. So I hard reset the units and set it all up from scratch. Since that point they have not worked with IPV6 once? I have reset and turned them in and if, I’ve hard reset them again, and I have turned the IPV6 option off and on multiple times. I’ve also turned my modem off and on multiple times. I have an Eero Pro 6 system I can test with and if I plug that on in place of my Google WiFi system it gets IPV6 instantly.
Has anyone got any ideas? Did the Google routers update their firmware when I set them up from scratch in the beginning and break IPV6?

IPv6 is working for me, though there have been times in the past where it didn't. I am seeing more reports of it causing issues lately for other users, though. You may want to just disable it for awhile and live with IPv4 until things settle down again.

I can’t use it! That’s the whole point, my google routers are NOT getting any ipv6 addresses. I want it to as I have no issues with it on my equipment, and I want to use ipv6, but the google routers aren’t picking it up.

Yes, I understand that it's not working. I also understand that nothing else in your environment has changed and that an alternative system (Eero) is working with IPv6. Unfortunately, in this context, I don't have any other suggestions at this time. You can leave it enabled and it will continue trying to get a working IPv6 prefix delegation, or you can disable IPv6 and try enabling it again later.

My main one connected to my modem is running 14150.43.81, and my second router is running on: 14150.43.81 so both the same.
have you got any other suggestions? I’ll turn the IPV6 option off. I’m sorry but I do not know what software the routers were in when I originally plugged them back in before resetting them. I have tried with the DNS set to auto and set to Google’s addresses.

That firmware version is what I have as well, and it's been out awhile. Keep an eye on it, though – a new update may be coming soon.
DNS shouldn't impact IPv6 – it just needs to get a proper prefix delegation and route so your devices can auto-configure themselves properly.

Sorry about the issues you've been having with the IPv6 settings. As MichaelP mentioned, a new firmware rollout is happening now and it has updates that specifically target IPv6 functionality, so I'm hoping you see an improvement when that update lands. If you have any questions about the firmware upgrade, please let me know.

The update is rolling out now, and it goes out in waves. For the first week it just hits a small number of devices and it picks up in distribution throughout the month. As soon as it's available to your devices, it will download automatically and install on its own.

Here are the firmware version numbers for the update that's going out now.
Google Wifi: 14150.376.32
Nest Wifi router: 14150.376.32
Google Wifi (2nd gen): 14150.376.32
Nest Wifi point: 1.56.315675
If you're seeing those numbers on your device software version, then you have the newest release. If you're still on an older version, you should expect to see it soon. Let me know if you have any other questions.

If I haven’t got the update yet, or don’t get it for several days, is it worth resetting my WiFi to force the update onto them?

I wouldn't reset anything – the rollout is supposed to be at 100% in a few days, so I'd give it a little more time. My own system here updated yesterday (in the early hours of the morning), but another system I manage for my parents hasn't updated yet.

Hi, my Google WiFi have updated themselves but they still aren’t giving out an IPV6 address, on my devices I only had one address starting with fd, no other IPV6 addresses are present, I have restarted the routers, turned IPV6 off and on, and turned the modem and Routers off and on but still the same?

Thanks for getting back to us. Could you try to change your DNS server to 'Custom' while IPv6 is enabled so it gives you the option to manually input the IPv6 address you want to use?

Hi, it’s still not working. I set the settings to custom and input all my ISP DNS servers, it didn’t change anything. And I rebooted the system. I then set the setting back to automatic and my device then got two IPv6 addresses Safari if with ‘2’ only? I rebooted my device and it was the same, so it could only see the external ipv6 addresses, no internal internal network ones. I rebooted the google WiFi then and now it’s back to only getting one address starting with ‘f’. So it’s back to where it was.
if I have time later I may change resetting the entire google WiFi ti factory defaults and set it up again.
