Incorporating a Google wifi router into a Nest wifi mesh network

Hi!

I'm trying to repurpose a previously bought Google Wifi router by incorporating it into my new Nest wifi mesh network. I have a single Nest router and 1 additional wifi point. Instead of purchasing a new Nest wifi point I was hoping to use the old Google wifi router as a second wifi point. Can it be used for that purpose? If so, how do I add it to my network? I've already tried to do it through the Google Home App by using the "add a new device" option but when it searches for new devices it doesn't recognize the old Google wifi router.

Thanks,

Raj

To repurpose an existing Google WiFi unit, it will need to be factory reset first. Here's a support document describing that: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/6246619?hl=en

You might have the best luck using the reset button method described on that page. Be patient – it can take quite awhile to complete the reset process. But, once it's done, it will look like a brand new device that's ready to be added to your system
