Intermittent wifi for IPhone 14 Pro Max

Trojaboy

Looking for advice on why my google wifi does not function with my iPhone consistently.

Most days I lose the connection with a label stating “no internet connection”. Google Nest Support unfortunately haven’t been much help.

I have the same set up at my parents and it works fine, but it keeps going in and out at my apartment. Again, it’s just my iPhone. Everything else works great. Thanks.

Hey @Trojaboy .

Is the setup at your parent's home exactly the same (ISP, modem, network setup)? Do others with the same iOS device and/or iOS update having the same issues?

Hey folks,

@PatrickP_Viking, appreciate your helpful response.
@Trojaboy, chiming in to ensure everything is good here. Were you able to see PatrickP_Viking's response?

Everything at my parents is different, and yes - other iOS devices have issues maintaining a connection. Please advise.

Thanks for the additional information @Trojaboy .

There are known issues with iOS due to default settings Apple enables. Please check out the below article. While it says "setup", these settings can affect connectivity as well.

Troubleshoot setup with iOS

Hello. Thanks for the information. All this was already done it appears. Still not functioning consistently.

Hey @Trojaboy .

Since the only apparent devices affected are iOS devices, it is likely a setting on either the devices or Nest Wifi that the devices are not playing nice with. Two things to try here:

  1. If you have WPA3, 160MHz (Pro model only), and/or IPv6 enabled in Advanced Settings, these can cause issues in some devices if they do not handle any or all of the above well. Turn them off one at a time and test to see if the issue resolves. If a disabled setting has no affect, you should be OK enabling it again. I tend to go down the list from top to bottom and start turning them back on one at a time if the issue I'm checking resolves.
  2. Forget and completely remove the network from your device (and cloud sync if it is enabled). Then reconnect to the network like it was the first time.

If #1 resolves the issue then it will confirm that it was one or more of the Nest Wifi settings that are incompatible currently with iOS which we can get over to engineers to investigate further. If #2 resolves the issue, then it will confirm that the iOS device was the problem and you may need to reach out to Apple with a bug report or ticket regarding it.

If neither help, let me know.

Unfortunately, neither worked. The wifi works briefly then states “no internet connection”. -.-

Just out of curiosity, do you happen to have any special characters in the SSID?

There’s not. Only a 2.

Hey @Trojaboy .

Sorry for taking a bit to get back to you. I cannot find any known issue affecting Nest Wifi devices with the exception of the previous article. Since this only affects iOS devices, it is something with iOS that is causing the disconnects/reconnects. I suspect it is some setting on the devices, likely something enabled by default, that is the culprit that was part of a recent update.

I would suggest contacting Apple Support since it is only iOS devices having issues. They will try to say that it is the Nest Wifi but if only their devices are having issues, it is not the Nest Wifi. We have been through all of the known issues and fixes that I am aware of.

Hey folks,

Thanks again for lending a hand, @PatrickP_Viking.
@Trojaboy, I wanted to follow up and see if you are still in need of any help. Please let me know if you are still having any concerns or questions from here, as I would be happy to take a closer look and assist you further.

Thanks,
Abi
