I have a nest router & 3 points, normal connectivity is ok but it only allows very poor connectivity with video conferencing on zoom or Microsoft teams. Any suggestions

How fast internet speeds do you have through your ISP?

What speed does Google Home show on the daily automatic speed test?

  • Google Home app -> Wi-Fi -> Network

What device(s) are you using Zoom and Teams with? Do they support Wifi 5/ 802.11ac and 5ghz?

I don't work for Google.

Hi Cozzy

I have been having the same issue for a couple of years. The only workaround I've had is to go in and "Prioritize" the device i'm using.

Well that worked up until today. Now that doesn't work any more and it's worse than ever.

Google doesn't seem to care. It's been well documented online and no fix has been made.

Apparently going into the App > Wifi > Settings > Preferred Activities and then either ticking or unticking the Video conferencing box has helped some users. This has done nothing for me at all and issue remains worse than ever.

Attn Google - any other ways to rectify this issue?

Thanks

Scott

I use Teams every work day from home with no problems, for years now. Wirelessly even. I got fiber 1000/1000mbps into the master puck. I've disabled all preferred activities, and never set a priority device.

What speeds do you have, and what kind of internet connection? Fiber, coax etc.

What results do you get on Speedtest.net in regards to speed, ping and jitter?

What does the Microsoft 35æ65 connection test say?

Hi EdwardT - thanks for the follow up. It's been pretty tempramental hyowever i've found a fix by following these steps:

- Preferred activities OFF (Wifi > Settings > Preferred activities > Both unticked) <--- why off? no idea.

- NO Prioritized devices on network

- Restart Wifi network from app (Wifi > Settings > scroll to bottom)

- Power off restart Modem and all Google Nest units - power back on 1 by 1 starting with Modem, Primary Wifi unit, the additionals

- Restart computer

Zoom is now working fine on the G Wifi units.

Thanks
